Above Ground Salt Water Pool Kits

Tired of buying (and lugging home) chlorine all summer long? A saltwater system makes chlorine for you, so keeping your water clean gets a whole lot easier.

The pools in this collection are built to work with a salt system. They use resin parts, and some models have aluminum walls, which hold up to salt much better than bare steel. You'll find round and oval salt water pools for sale in 52" and 54" wall heights, from cozy 12' rounds all the way up to big 18' x 33' ovals.

An above ground salt water pool isn't chlorine free. A salt chlorine generator uses electrolysis to turn dissolved salt into chlorine right in your water. The salt level stays around 3,000 ppm (roughly a tenth as salty as the ocean), and lots of swimmers say the water feels softer on their skin. You'll still test and balance your pH, but you'll skip most of the chlorine shopping.

Frequently asked questions

Is a saltwater above-ground pool worth it?

Yes, a saltwater above-ground pool can be worth it if you want convenient, consistent chlorine production and water that many swimmers find gentler on their skin. Although the initial cost may be higher, a salt chlorine generator reduces the need to add chlorine manually. Regular water testing and maintenance are still necessary.

Is it possible to have an above-ground saltwater pool?

Yes, many above-ground pools are compatible with saltwater systems. You can install a compatible salt chlorine generator to sanitize the water. Before purchasing, check that your pool liner, pump, filter and other components are suitable for saltwater use.

How does an above-ground saltwater pool work?

A salt chlorine generator converts dissolved salt into chlorine, which sanitizes the pool water. The system reduces the need for manual chlorine additions, but still requires regular water testing and chemical balancing.

Are saltwater above-ground pools easier to maintain?

Saltwater pools can simplify chlorine management because the generator produces chlorine automatically. However, you'll still need to clean the pool, balance the water, maintain the filter and inspect the salt cell.

Are saltwater above-ground pools more expensive?

They typically cost more upfront because of the salt chlorine generator. Ongoing costs depend on electricity use, salt, chemicals, maintenance and eventual salt cell replacement.
