Our HydroMax™ DE Filter System revolves around the cylindrical pleated filter septum maximizing filter area and decreasing the number of internal components.

DE filters use  a powder called diatomaceous earth, its a fossilized remains of diatoms.  When the powder is added to your filter, via the skimmer, the filter element will be covered with this material. This will trap and collect particles as small as three microns. When the filter is dirty, you will have to bachwash the system.

Most other systems on the market use multiple internal components, the more components the more possibilities for DE to bypass the system through poor sealing points.
